The Michelin is lot more silent than G015. However, I won't compare these two actually as the G015 is an A/T tyre, though I think it is biased towards highway use as it has four grooves to drain water. There's not much difference in highway grip when compared to PrimacySUV but the noise is substantial. Overall, Primacy is better as my XUV has mediocre brakes while the Duster is a well-planted vehicle. PrimacySUV is not an A/T tyre. It is an excellent highway runner. As said by many, you should include and compare the LTX and not PrimacySUV with G015, IMHO. Else you should include GeoLandar G055 also. Is BFG available, I thought both BFG and Falken / Hankook are not available due to the recent govt policies ? I voted for the G015 since you are apparently looking for an A/T tyre. I have recently bought a Hyundai Tucson CRDi the SUV is excellent but the tyres which Hyundai gave as OE fitment is cheap Korean made Nexen tyres the problems of which are already very well highlighted in a well compiled and documented manner somewhere else in the forum which is why I'm considering to replace these tyres to something better. As for your question I shall suggest you to go for the Bridgestone Duelers. They might not be as silent as say Michelins and neither do they have phenomenal wet grip but they are extremely durable for SUVs and at the same time are relatively silent and have reasonable grip levels. The Michelins even though excellent use soft compound which might cause it to develop cracks when put through some abuse, I was reading the thread of a fellow BHPian where he mentioned about the tyre cut in his Volkswagen Jetta also many such threads are beautifully archived in the forum. Lastly Bridgestone Duelers are among the better tyres. My friend who has a Hyundai Creta got these as OEM and is very satisfied with the same. Used them on my Fortuner and was very happy. May I suggest an additional Wildcard entry? Apollo Tyres. From my experience not technically speaking I have found the compound of Apollo tires to be quite firm and therefore they are able to take a beating day in and out. I have had quite a few punctures over the years and yet the tyres haven't complained in any way. They are also cheaper than some of the more expensive brands. Additionally, my daily commute of around 50-60 Kms in Mumbai has also been quite pleasant with these tyres. Out of all the other tyres that I have owned these ones have been the least prone to bruising, cuts etc. Being a government officer, I also have to travel to many construction sites where road conditions are possibly worst than off-road and the Apollos have been my choice. Would suggest you to give them some consideration too 4 Thanks 13th December 2021, 0130 15 BHPian Join Date Oct 2019 Location Bangalore,DEL Posts 86 Thanked 341 Times re SUV tyres for Indian Roads - Poll No experience with BFG. Theirhistory, international reputation and warranties already make you a winner. Bridgestone seemingly has more of a focus on the 'everyday' motorist than Michelin. And though Michelin might be a bit more upscale, it does offer 'everyday' tyres at a price accessible for many people for the discerning buyer.
Most of the time, the expensive price tag is the dealbreaker when we compare Michelin and Bridgestone tires. That said, there are certain performance nuances that would make you choose one tire over the other. Hence, we compared the features of Michelin Defender vs Bridgestone Dueler to help you pick the right option. It turned out that Michelin’s Defender line is more versatile. It serves a wider array of vehicles with a long-lasting life and friendlier cost, while Bridgestone’s Dueler has more tire choices for SUVs, light and medium trucks. It stands out in off-roading and handling light snow. Table of ContentsWhat Are They?1. Bridgestone H/L Tires H/L means highway/luxury2. MichelinDifferences Bridgestone Dueler vs Michelin Defender1. UTQG Treadwear, Traction, and Temperature2. Warranty3. 3PMSF4. CostPros and ConsFAQsConclusion What Are They? In general, Bridgestone Dueler tires meet the demands of 4WD vehicles for year-round high level traction, excellent driving performance, and comfort in any terrain. The Dueler products are grouped as follows 1. Bridgestone H/L Tires H/L means highway/luxury These tires are designed for big-city highways and suburban driving. Popular tire types include the H/L Alenza, H/L Alenza Plus, and H/L 400. Available tire sizes range from 16-22 inches, and their warranty can go as high as 80,00o miles. Bridgestone Dueler H/L Alenza Plus is 10% more fuel efficient than the H/L Alenza because of its reduced rolling resistance. The H/L 400 got good reviews in wet conditions and aquaplaning resistance and as an OE fitment for Subaru. However, it suffered poor feedback in other aspects such as treadwear. Here’s a rundown of their characteristics. Specifications Dueler H/L Alenza Dueler H/L Alenza Plus Dueler H/L 400 Tire Type All season All Season All season Usage Highway and suburban areas Highway Highway Fitment CUV, SUV and light-duty pickup trucks SUV, CUV and light duty pickup trucks SUV and 4x4s Tire Size Range 18-22 in. 15-22 in. 18-21 in. Characteristics Performs on dry road best. High quality overall but falls behind the Alenza Plus slightly. Excellent on wet and dry roads. Good on snow terrains. Does okay on dry surfaces but disappoints in off-road and wet performance. Bridgestone H/P Sport These high performance tires are made for sport trucks or SUVs. It has two versions H/P Sport and H/P A/S. The former is meant for summer while the latter is designed for all-season driving. Here’s a quick reference for the two H/P Dueler tires. Specifications Dueler H/P Sport Dueler H/P Sport AS Tire Type UHP Summer tire SUV/CUV Touring All Season Usage Highway Highway Fitment SUV and 4x4s CUV, SUV, Light and medium truck Tire Size range 16-21 in. 17-20 in. Characteristics Best on dry surfaces, which makes sense, as it’s a summer tire. Good on wet and dry surfaces, mediocre on snow. Bridgestone A/T and H/T tires Bridgestone A/T tires are meant for all-terrain driving. As for Bridgestone Dueler H/T series, the Bridgestone Dueler H T 685 and HT 684 II were engineered for highway use. These tires offer a warranty of 50,000-60,000 miles. Notable A/T Dueler tires are the Dueler A/T Revo 3 and A/T RH-S. Check out the key features of some of these truck tires. Specifications Dueler A/T Revo 3 Dueler H/T 684 II Dueler H/T 685 Tire Type All terrain All Season All Season Usage On and off road Highway Highway Fitment Jeeps, SUVs, CUVs, light and medium trucks SUVs, light and medium trucks Full-size pickup trucks, vans, CUVs, and SUVs Tire Size Range 16-20 in. 17-22 in. 16-22 in. Characteristics Excellent on wet and dry roads, good on snow. Good in dry conditions but pretty disappointing in other areas. Highest comfort level out of the three. Excellent on wet, dry, and snow terrains. 2. Michelin The Michelin Defender line is arguably the strongest tire family in the Michelin portfolio with its mileage promise of 70,000-80,000 miles. Check out the features of the three Defender tires. Specifications Michelin Defender T+ H Michelin Defender 2 Michelin Defender LTX M/S Type Standard Touring All-season tire Standard Touring All-season tire All-season tire Usage Highway Urban roads Highway Fitment Coupes, sedans, minivans, and small CUVs Coupes, sedans, CUVs, SUVs and minivans Vans, pickups, SUVs, commercial vehicles, shuttles, cabs, light and heavy trucks Tire Size Range 15-18 in. 16-20 in. 15-22 in. Characteristics Well-rounded tire. Winter performance is good but pales in comparison to its wet and dry handling. Exceptional handling, but perhaps not the best choice for wet surfaces. Well-rounded tire, has a slight edge over the T+H in performance. A Related Comparison Michelin Defender vs LTX M/S 2 Differences Bridgestone Dueler vs Michelin Defender 1. UTQG Treadwear, Traction, and Temperature Michelin Defender tires displayed a superior UTQG rating. They are more grippy, durable and better at dissipating heat. As an illustration, the Michelin’s Defender T+H is long-lasting with a treadwear rating of 820 compared to the H/L Alenza Plus’s 800. Both of these scores are the two lines’ highest. As for temperature and traction, the T+H has ratings of B and A, while the Alenza Plus achieved A for both. Below are the UTQG scores for other models. Note that we’ve listed the highest ratings only. HL Alenza – 700 B A and 600 A A HL 400 – 600 B A H/P Sport – 300 A A H/P Sport AS – 500 A AA A/T – 520 B AA and 540 B A H/T – 520 B B and 500 B AA Defender LTX – 800 A A Defender2 – 840 B B for now, not all sizes of this model have received a rating yet As you can see, Michelin generally outperforms Bridgestone when it comes to treadwear. Even if Michelin’s Defender line was compared to the Bridgestone Turanza, the French tire still comes out on top. As for temperature resistance and traction, it depends on which models you’re comparing, since both tire companies have scores of A and B for these criteria. 2. Warranty Michelin Defender tires offer support for 70,000-80,000 miles, while Bridgestone Dueler tires promise 40,000-80,000 miles. However, one tire from the Bridgestone lineup does not offer any warranty. It is the H/P Sport. 3. 3PMSF Michelin Defender tires do not carry the 3PMSF symbol Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake. Despite that, the Michelin LTX M/S has been proven to be capable of handling light snow. Similarly, not all Dueler tires have the Alpine or snowflake symbol, but some of them have extra features that aid snow traction. For instance, the AT Revo 3 is touted as the best all-terrain tire for snow because of its good grip, handling, and braking. The Dueler AT001 is marked with M+S and 3PMSF symbols. This all-terrain and all-season tire is praised for its dry braking in freezing temperatures, plus great traction and handling in mild winter situations. 4. Cost In general, Michelin is more affordable than Bridgestone when it comes to all-season SUV and truck tires. Bridgestone and Michelin are among the largest tire makers in the planet along with Goodyear and Continental. If you are privy about the statistics, here are some numbers for you Based on tire-related sales in the first and second quarter of 2016, Bridgestone is at the top of the podium with approximately $12 billion in in at a close second place is Michelin with $ billion in total is in third place with approximately $ billion worth of tires out the top 4 is Continental with $ billion worth of tire sales. Based on the sales stats, Bridgestone and Michelin are literally neck and neck for the title of the world’s biggest tire maker. This is the reason why people often ask which is the best between Bridgestone and Michelin since these two brands are among the most popular in the world. Bridgestone Tires Overview Bridgestone Americas is the offspring of two major companies The Firestone Tire & Rubber Company founded by Harvey Firestone in Akron, Ohio in August 1900, and Bridgestone Tire Company of Japan founded by Shojiro Ishibashi in 1931. The Bridgestone name is synonymous with motorsports, particularly in Formula One racing. Bridgestone has been a major part of Formula One since 1997. The company won its first title in 1998 for the McLaren-Mercedes team under the fantastic driving of Mika Hakkinen. Michelin Tires Overview Michelin tires were founded by brothers Edouard Michelin and Andre Michelin in 1889. The two ran a small rubber factory in Clermont-Ferrand, France. Michelin filed its first patent for a removable pneumatic tire in 1891. The prototype tire was used in the bicycle of Charles Terront to win the Paris-Brest-Paris bicycle race, which was the world’s first ever long-distance cycle race. Interestingly enough, Michelin was the first to introduce the concept of a run-flat tire in 1934. The tire would basically run on a special foam lining if it gets punctured. But the company gained prominence in 1946 when it introduced the world’s first radial tire. Ironically, Michelin first competed in Formula One in 1977, which is the same year that Bridgestone entered Formula One as well. Michelin was the first to introduce radial tire technology in Formula One. The question should NOT be focused on which among Bridgestone or Michelin tires is the best since there is no clear and definite answer. The question should rather be what OEM tires were fitted to my ride? Modern cars are so complex that some were developed and engineered to run at peak performance using a specific set of tires from a famous brand, whether it be Michelin, Bridgestone, Goodyear, or Pirelli. For example, the 2017 Bugatti Chiron sports a set of tires co-developed with Michelin. But even that’s not enough since Bugatti is still waiting for a tire that can travel at the Chiron’s top speed of 310 mph. Since the Michelin Pilot Sport 2 tires of the Chiron are not rated to handle that ludicrous top speed, the car is now limited to a top speed of only’ 280 mph. The lesson here is simple. If your vehicle was equipped with Bridgestone tires from the factory, it is safe to assume that those specific set of tires will deliver the best combination of traction, comfort, and ride quality in your vehicle. It’s the same with Michelin tires. In terms of price, it is hard to differentiate the two brands since their tires are priced similarly. Mind you, Bridgestone and Michelin tires are not cheap. They are among the most expensive set of tires that you can buy. However, you are not only paying for the brand panache since you also get a longer warranty with each Bridgestone or Michelin tire. Conclusion – Bridgestone versus Michelin There is no definite answer to which among Bridgestone and Michelin are better since you have to consider a lot of variables like wet traction, dry traction, tread wear, road noise, comfort, and the warranty. Choosing between the two brands is like asking a car enthusiast to choose between a Ferrari or a Lamborghini, Pagani versus Koenigsegg, or Mercedes versus BMW. It is seemingly impossible to choose since each brand offers a different sort of driving experience. One thing is for sure, though. If you are choosing between Bridgestone and Michelin, you can be confident you are getting the best from each brand since they won’t be the top tire makers in the world if not for their commitment to quality and performance. But they have a reason for this to produce and provide High-Quality tires. Which are long-lasting, High Performance, Good Grip, and Fuel Efficient?Let’s first discuss the passenger vehicle tires’ and then the SUV. BRIDGESTONE POTENZA RE050 VS. MICHELIN PILOT SPORT 4Many people know Bridgestone RE050 as the original equipment tire for various BMW, Ferrari, and Mercedes-Benz AMG models. This speaks volumes about this tire’s features and performance levels. For those of you who are unaware of the Potenza’s legendary status, it is a summer tire designed for high-end Potenza offers impressive performance in a variety of driving conditions. Whether it’s extreme summer heat or the rainy season, there’s no need to worry. The Potenza is designed to offer uniform steering response and traction in all types of road conditions. Besides this, the tire is known to be remarkably directional tread pattern allows for better acceleration and stability during high-speed cornering. The fabric cord body ply further improves the overall driving experience. The only complaint that we have against the Potenza is that the tread durability is poor. Tires from competitors in the same line-up are much more competitor to the Potenza is the Pilot Sport 4. The Pilot might not be as famous as the Potenza, but that does not mean that it is any less worthy. In fact, the Pilot is much more compatible with performance hungry cars as compared to Bridgestone’s offering. The first thing that makes this tire stand out is its has designed it in such a way that the rolling resistance has been remarkably reduced. This improves fuel efficiency along with the durability of the tires. Recognizing that sports vehicles are much more susceptible to curb damage, the Pilot comes with a built-in deep rim protector. Now, there is no longer a need to worry about accidental curb truly unique about the Pilot is the Formula-E tread pattern. When this is combined with the latest elastomers and silica, you get next-level performance. These features are responsible for the Pilot's remarkably short braking distance and wet surface performance. Risks such as hydroplaning are non-existent when the vehicle is equipped with Michelin’s are great tires. Picking a winner is like finding a needle in a haystack. Nevertheless, if we are asked to pick a winner, our choice is the Pilot. The reason is that it is a modern tire as compared to Potenza. The Pilot has been designed, keeping in mind what modern-day cars are offering. Nevertheless, the Potenza line-up's later models can easily give the Pilot a run for its ALENZA 001 VS. MICHELIN PILOT SPORT 4 SUVModern SUVs are no longer just fuel-hungry machines with no regard for the environment or other people. Instead, manufacturers have moved beyond the conventional stereotypes associated with SUVs. Today, these vehicles offer elegance, luxury, and comfort without affecting the environment or consuming too much Bridgestone Alenza 001 provides a lot to SUVs. For instance, the Alenza offers SUV owners the ability to drive in wet and dry conditions with little difference. Due to the unique design and overall construction, the traction remains uniform in all types of road conditions. The dangers associated with wet surfaces like hydroplaning are efficiently dealt with by the risk of hydroplaning is reduced due to Alenza’s tread design that allows for quick dispersion of water. Another great feature is the Nano Pro-Tech that is responsible for the high heat resistance. This prevents premature tear and wear. Similarly, it also allows for greater fuel efficiency as less energy is required to roll the tires along the not all. The Alenza has a lot more to offer to SUV owners. Imagine cornering at high speeds only to lose traction and end up in a car crash. This scenario is quite likely if you have low-quality tires installed. However, the multi-round block structure provides stability during cornering and instant steering Pilot Sport 4 SUV is another marvellous option for SUVs and crossover vehicles. If you fancy a little off-road driving experience, there's no cause for alarm. The Sport 4 SUV are well-capable of handling their own in challenging driving conditions. What makes them quite popular is their versatility across different driving it's warm, wet, or dry conditions, you will not be able to feel a difference in performance, traction, and comfortability. The functional elastomers and thin silica are responsible for improved performance, especially in wet surface conditions. The optimized notches help reduce the braking distance, a significant improvement in terms of tire’s internal construction consists of a high-density polyester casing. This casing improves the robustness of the tire and its durability. If you are driving over hard surfaces like rocks, the robustness prevents punctures and even tire bursts. The Pilot Sport 4 SUV also comes with a deep rim is no clear winner here. The Alenza and the Pilot are equally great tires. If you have a choice between the two, do coins flip? That’s how difficult it is to decide a winner among the two. If budget is an issue, you can opt for the Alenza. However, it is just slightly cheaper than the Pilot Sport 4 only thing different is the products. Instead of elaborating on the two brands, we will get straight to the all, there is no point in telling you about the world's top two tyre brands because you already all there is to know about TiresFirst, we will talk about tires that you can use on sedans, coupes, and other similar of Michelin Car TiresMICHELIN Alpin A4 - Passenger Car/MinivanMICHELIN Defender T + H - Passenger Car/MinivanMICHELIN Energy™ LX4 - Passenger Car/MinivanMICHELIN Energy™ Saver A/S - Passenger Car/MinivanMICHELIN Primacy All Season - Passenger Car/MinivanMICHELIN X-Ice - Passenger Car/MinivanMICHELIN X-ICE SNOW - Passenger Car/MinivanMICHELIN X-Ice Xi3 - Passenger Car/MinivanMICHELIN X Tour A/S - Passenger Car/MinivanList of Bridgestone Car TiresPOTENZA - PerformanceDRIVEGUARD - Peace of MindTURANZA - Quiet RideECOPIA - Fuel EfficiencyDUELER - Off-Road TractionBlizzak - Winter TractionBridgestone Turanza T005If you are looking for the best Michelin tire for your car, then you have found your answer in the Turanza T005. Two features are responsible for this tire's excellent wet surface rating – high blocks in the shoulder area and a wide gap in the same features combine to quickly disperse water and reduce the risk of aquaplaning. That's not all, as the T005 is given an A rating when it comes to wet grip. Depending on the size, the tire may come with Bridgestone’s run-flat the rubber, the T005 comes with stiff polyester and steel that reduce the rolling resistance. Also, being an original equipment tyre for the likes of the Toyota Land Cruiser and Cadillac Escalade speaks volumes about its quality.
